The Hammond Family in Victoria

My Great Grandfather Samuel Hammond arrived in Port Philip Bay in the colony of Victoria aboard the sailing ship "Oliver Lang" in 1854. My Great Grandmother Cecelia Draffin arrived in Port Philip Bay in the colony of Victoria aboard the sailing ship "Rising Sun" in 1858.

Both families settled in "The Springs" district and were married at Mount Hotham on 11th September 1862. The marriage was conducted in the house of John Draffin.

They had twelve children. Most of the children remained in Victoria, with their descendants still living there today. My Grandfather, James, moved his family to New South Wales about 1900.

Samuel and Cecelia both died in 1908 and are buried at Narracan Cemetery.
